  • Looks good. I made a planetary renderer using ROAM a few years back and the major hurdle was river systems which we found a semi design semi procedural solution to.

I was wondering if this engine has rivers. It seems it doesn't and it seems no other (real-time) engine have them either.

Is it something you have considered or do you consider river systems irrelevant?

  • River systems are notoriously difficult for real time renderers as they require knowledge of adjacent terrain. Infinity will not have rivers that flow downhill but the terrain algorithm can generate sea level rivers and canyons. Se the latest dev journals on the web site for more info.

  • Holy Crap nice man nice Procedural Generating right?

  • Yep, Infinity is based in an entirely procedurally generated universe.

  • So amazing for a video made 4 year ago , i cannot imagine how this is now with all the rendered picture i saw from the game website!!! ill be doing nice dream tonight !!!

  • I love the detail.

  • @InfinitySupport What about oceans? Will the water behave like...water? Will the water interact with the ship of it flies very close to the surface(its called a water engine, right?)?

  • @Graxster Please realize that this has been a one-man, part-time-hobby project until recently. Mr. Brebion has now partnered with Kieth Newton from Epic Games. Both now work on programming, Mr. Newton doing so full-time. I expect we will see work on the game proper within a year or two, taking into account the time required to set up their company, I-Novae Studios.

  • I'll believe it when I see it. This looks to me like vaporware. First videos posted in 2006, and now in 2011 it's still pre-alpha?

  • are their black holes in this game?

  • huh

  • i know what u're saying...probably is the closest we're getting to space

  • Indeed, that is why Infinity Admin (Flevion Brebion) is hiding all current content..

It is classified Top Secret, restricted only to level Phi, in which case the level is always higher than yours because you're not a Developer :)

I guess we will have to see it when it comes out... and it will shock the whole world!!! I can imagine it going all over the gaming news and maybe even beyond...

  • well without them you would crash i guess :/
