  • All religions are all about God fighting with men (change and God will accept you). But only christianity is all about God fighting for men (God did everything to accept you).

  • @jyul777 Great comment! Thank you.

  • What does believing in Jesus mean? Can a person believe in the Son of God as Savior, and not believe in him as Lord? Doesn't belief in him mean accepting him fully for who he is?

  • @boan000 Good points. In the Greek scripture, the word "believe" in reference to Jesus specifically means "to bring in a sojourner".

  • @jyul777 NICE COMMENT INDEED! im gonna post it on my profile and give u credit, God bless

  • @scamera That's what this man said here. You are correct.

    Paul says it also:

through whom we have gained access BY FAITH into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

    Romans 5:2

  • Salvation comes from God alone

  • @pbar1000 Oh, just to clarify, my brother, I am not talking about moralism, or legalism in any sense. I fully agree, salvation is fully by grace through faith, not by works, not of ourselves. However, Scriptures show that repentance too is a gift of God's grace and is a work of the conviction of the Holy Spirit.

    Peace to you, and grace...

  • @pbar1000 "How can one repent without first coming to saving faith?"

Repentance is also a gift granted by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit must bring conviction of sin before a man can repent and believe on Christ (Jn 16:8,9; Ac 5:31; 2 Tim 2:25)

My question is how can one come to saving faith without first coming to repentance?

Lk 9:23 saying to them all, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.

    That speaks of repentance

  • @boan000 It is by God's grace that we are saved, through our faith. Moralism is a deterrant to God's unmerited favor bestowed upon us. The word of God will bring a man to repentance because it is what Jesus wills, in the heart of those who believe. You are absolutely correct in pointing out Jesus and the Baptist emphasized repentance. Faith cometh first. How can one repent without first coming to saving faith? God will lead the soul in his way, not ours. Thank you for speaking out, my brother.
