The World Made in China

Archbishop Savio Hon Tai-Fai, S.D.B., secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, will give a lecture titled "The Word Made in China: From a Missionary Perspective of Blessed Gabriele M. Allegra (1907-1976)."

Born in 1950, Archbishop Hon Tai-Fai was ordained a priest of the Salesians of Saint John Bosco in July 1982. Appointed to his current post by Pope Benedict XVI in December 2010, Archbishop Hon Tai-Fai previously served as professor of theology at the Holy Spirit Seminary of Hong Kong. He was ordained archbishop of the titular see of Sila on Feb. 5, 2011.

Rev. Gabriele Allegra, O.F.M., was a scripture scholar who did the first complete translation of the Catholic bible into the Chinese language. He died in 1976.
