  • IMHO, Monsanto's genetically engineered seeds (let alone mosquitoes), are "a clear & present danger" to world populations. Scientists have barely scratched the surface of the effects of genetic engineering, and yet 70% of the processed food you buy in your local supermarket is genetically engineered. When Monsanto/Money are involved the precautionary principle flies out the window. Americans are Monsanto's guinea pigs.

  • They have released sterile males before. That's a better ideal then one modified genetically. We are not God nor anywhere near it. Who knows what this will lead to? We don't know yet to where all the bees went to.

  • I think it's a good idea. I've never read anything written in the past, let's say 50 years ago, about the spread of dengue virus. Either it had a different name or people could not identify it yet. It seems to me that this dengue virus carried by female mosquitoes is an indirect result of bad human activities. Well, I am no expert. It's merely a philosophical.

  • why all the stones?

  • These decisions are a balance between the ideal and what is possible. What is possible is insecticides that kill lots of insects, draining swamps which destroys the environment, bednets, spraying DDT on the walls - oh, and malaria, dengue, chikungunya etc. I think vague concerns (not scientific ones) about modifying mosquitoes is small compared to the bad stuff we will have to accept otherwise.

  • Oh I don't think genetic modification will speed us along to our deaths any quicker than all the other crap we're doing , but you have to understand that I assume we'll all be dead before this particular abomination unto nature has any chance of being the reason for our extinction .

  • no to genetic mod even though it does sound fun we must resist

  • 85% Of our food in the us is Modified!! Fuckin G.M.Os
