  • No not resolved properly. The Car has not done this for about 3 months. It seems to be ok at the moment , i dont know why!

  • No. Very intermittent. Thermostat and water pump changed, also flushed out and new coolant. Ford "experts" suspect fault on ecu. All electrical connections checked.

It appears as though the guage is "lying" and the engine is not overheating.

  • I have this same problem since they changed all the hoses and the thermostat the neddle shows overheating but the car runs well and everything i was planning to install an aem temperature gauge on the side... Anybody knows the problem??? Btw its a 2006 focus zx4

  • I dad the same problem with the engine overheating over 70mph. I changed the thermostat, radiator, etc an still the problem was there...Finally I got it fixed by replacing the head gasket...It seems that the old head gasket had a leak that was causing the overheating problem..

  • I recently got an oil change/tire change/stabilizer bar change (focus 2007) and now the temp gage goes apeshit randomly. They gave me a rad flush and fill which did nothing, it has gotta be electric! It gets to 75% heat then drops down, but this happens only sometimes. Now my right turn signal also acts erratic (rapid noises/flashes when on)...only sometimes...

  • same problem with my 2001 Ford Overheating when I went over 100 km / h, it happened after I installed LPG on the car. I thought it was the thermostat, I replaced it, but the problem did not solved. I went to a Ford dealer for a diagnosis to see if the temperature sensor is the problem but they didn t found errors. They decided to do a system update or so of what I was told. After that, the problem was solved, the needle that indicates the water temperature is always in the middle at any speed.

  • Did you ever figure out what this was? I've got a similar issue, engine appears to overheat over 70mph. Gauge hits red then moves back down if you slow down. Had a leak which I think I fixed after changing thermostat and housing. Shortly after the battery died and then this problem started not long after.

I understand that an air lock would cause overheating at any / all temperatures. Other people have changed pumps and stuff, could it be ECU or temp sensors?

  • wow that nedle gotta be lieing! ant no way at over 60mph the motor gets that hot that fast.. smh.. time for a new temp sensor... smh i bet its making the fans go crazy..

  • it is probobly ur temp sensor if the engine was that hot your engine would be stuffed

  • so what... just take the dash cluster apart take the needle off and put it back on so that its always in the middle... problem solved

  • Has anyone figured this out? We are currently driving across the country and our temperature gauge on our focus is redlining and then coming back down. Help?
