  • @erienspice You're welcome ;) I wouldn't call learning Irish dance itself difficult: the only difference is that it incorporates the use of a lot of muscles you normally never or hardly use at all. Besides that, I'm quite a bad example: I 'suffer' from very short muscles in my whole body, so I just have to stretch a lot.

  • @weeardguy Thank you for responding to this. knowing that it is possible to learn at an older age (though difficult) is promising to me. i need to find a class that does adult beginning, but I am still willing to work at it! Thanks again, and good luck!

  • @erienspice I'm 23 now (male) and started with the basics (ofcourse) 3 months ago. If you're not such a sporty type, you will have to stretch a lot to perform certain movements (or at least I have to)

After a while another beginner joined us, which was ten years older than me: it will probably get harder as you get older, but no impossible.

Probably the best advice: train your feet: almost every step/dance is done on your toes, which puts on a huge strain on the muscles around them.

  • you don't go up with the ribbons in ballet.........hahaha :)

  • dont tie your pumps like that..if you take the time to read some websites, like the Antonio Pacelli one, they normally give advise to new dancers..such as you can but you shouldn't tie your pumps like that because it can cause foot problems

  • Christ, if the lot of them just squeezed and turned out their feet...

  • never, ever teach a treble/ rally by swinging the foot that way - the best way to do it is keep the right foot in front while you brush out and back, it prevents wide, uncrossed trebles when the kids get better at them. Also, its a shame when she was dancing at the end that she didnt do it to the music, not sure if it was just the dubbing, but needs fixing!!!!!

  • I'm just starting hardshoe! can't wait to be able ta do advanced trebles

  • wow...that step at the end when she demonstrated the ''full'' step, many beginners use that step...i used it when i started in 1999
