Speech by Ed Miliband, British Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, held on 7 Oct. 2009 at the Warsaw School of Economics. Ed Miliband explains why a new climate deal, which should be signed at the December conference in Copenhagen, is so important. He develops on how this deal should differ from the imperfect 1997 Kyoto Protocol. He puts emphasis on exceptionally favorable political context, and says that the new deal should not be treated as an ordinary agreement, but rather as an inter-generational contract.
