12: VIDEO RECORDED AT 10.45AM ON 30/01/09 WHEN NEW CABIN CREW AND NEW PILOT CAME ONBOARD. ITS VERY INTERESTING TO HEAR THE PILOT SAY WE NEEDED TIME TO REFUEL, WHEN THE PREVIOUS PILOT HAD CONFIRMED SUFFICIENT REFUELLING HAD ALREADY TAKEN PLACE HOURS BEFORE. WE WERE IN THIS POSITION BECAUSE THE FLIGHT DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH FUEL IN THE FIRST PLACE, AND THEY TRIED TO BLAME THE WEATHER FOR THEIR ERROR!! UNBELIEVABLE...
AL AIN TO ABU DHABI IS ONLY ABOUT A 40 MINUTE FLIGHT, SO I DOUBT A SECOND REFUELLING AT AL AIN FOR EXTRA FUEL, WAS NEEDED, AS THE PLANE HADN'T MOVED SINCE THEY SUPPOSEDLY REFUELED THE FIRST TIME! THE PILOT ALSO BLAMES THE FOG, WHEN IN FACT IT WAS THE LACK OF FUEL WAS THE REASON WHY WE WERE DIVERTED - THE PREVIOUS PILOT SAID WE COULD HAVE LANDED AS ABU DHABI AIRPORT WAS OPEN AND STILL ACCEPTING FLIGHTS AT THE TIME WE WERE DUE TO LAND. WE JUST DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH FUEL. DESPITE NUMEROUS PROMISES THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT WE STILL DIDN'T TAKE OFF.A NUMBER OF PASSENGERS WERE IN CONTACT WITH RELATIVES WAITING AT ABU DHABI AIRPORT WHO CONFIRMED MANY AIRCRAFT WERE STILL LANDING AND TAKING OFF FROM ABU DHABI AIRPORT- SO WHY WERE WE STUCK AT AL AIN AIRPORT DOING NOTHING. THE NEW PILOT ALSO TALKS ABOUT THE BAD VISIBILITY BUT ALSO STATES THAT WITH AUTOPILOT THEY CAN LAND IN NEAR ZERO VISIBILITY, PROVING THAT WE COULD HAVE LANDED AT ABU DHABI VIRTUALLY ANYTIME, IF WE HAD ENOUGH FUEL. FOG CANNOT BE BLAMED FOR A 24 HOUR TOTAL DELAY AND DIVERTION. YOU CAN SEE MY VIDEOS OF THE FINAL APPROACH TO ABU DHABI AIRPORT AND THERE WAS NO FOG IN SIGHT, WITH NEAR PERFECT VISIBILITY. THIS WAS ONLY ABOUT AN HOUR AFTER THE PILOT SAID THERE WAS BAD VISIBILITY,JUST BEFORE TAKE OFF. I DO HAVE TO ASK MYSELF CAN I REALLY BELIEVE ANYTHING I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY ETIHAD STAFF AS THERE APPEARS TO BE SO MANY INCONSISTANCES...
I WILL NEVER EVER FLY ETIHAD AGAIN. SEE THE COMPLAINTS ON GOOGLE.

WATCH THE FOLLOWING VIDEOS FROM THE SAME FLIGHT TO GIVE YOU A FEEL OF WHAT A 24 HOUR DELAY WITH MISSED ONWARD CONNECTING FLIGHTS, FEELS LIKE. IN MY CASE THIS RESULTED IN JUST OVER A 24 HOUR DELAY, OF WHICH A HOTEL WAS PROVIDED FOR ABOUT 7 HOURS OF THIS. 5 HOURS WAS SPENT IN AL AIN AIRPORT WITH NO INFORMATION, NO FOOD, NOR DRINK. THE REST OF THE TIME WE WERE KEPT ONBOARD THE AIRCRAFT WITH VERY LIMITED REFRESHMENTS OF RATHER POOR QUALITY. WHAT WOULD A PROPER AIRLINE DO... APOLOGISE PERHAPS AND PROVIDE ACCOMMODATION FOR MOST OF THE DELAY WITHOUT HAVING TO BE TOLD WHAT THERE RESPONSIBILITIES WERE... PERHAPS A PROPER AIRLINE WOULD ISSUE MEAL VOUCHERS AT THE AIRPORT...PERHAPS A PROPER AIRLINE WOULD CARRY ABOUT 20 MINUTES WORTH OF EXTRA FUEL TO ALLOW FOR BAD WINDS OR ANY OTHER UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES... MOST OTHER FLIGHTS MANAGED TO DO THIS ON THAT EVENING, SO WHY COULDN'T ETIHAD???
I WILL NEVER FLY ETIHAD AGAIN.

  • search Google to see Etihad was certified to land in CAT III conditions in January 2009, before I flew! Other airlines landed ok so what were they doing? CAT III means you are allowed to land even in low visibility

  • In my experience Etihad not only promotes a product different to that received, but you do not get what you have paid for , or think you have booked, either ... you have been warned

    In my experience Etihad breaches contracts aswell as promises.

  • What airline doesnt compensate or accommodate passengers in hotels for a delay of 24 hours when this is clear breach of IATA's code of conduct aswell as breaking EU legislation... be warned Etihad airways is a disaster waiting to happen, mark my words

  • nobody can help weather but if other airlines have only minor delays, how can a 24 hour ordeal be justified? they shouldnt have taken off from London in the first place- I have also flown to Abu Dhabi numerous times before without a problem but I had never flown with Etihad before... try Qatar, Gulf air or Emirates..

  • If Etihad cared for its passengers the inflight entertainment system would work we would have received meal vouchers when in the airport and as required under International regulations aswell. Etihad breached its contract with passengers and tried to disown them... women and children were in tears and most people were refused accommodation aswell as being refused refreshments.

  • This is totally untrue if you read the actual facts I have described.

    FACT 1, most airlines took off and landed on that day with no diversions and only minor delays. How can many airlines land and take off except for Etihad?

  • And be happy they did not ask you to sleep on the airport benches, as American Airlines did once for me and my family...!!!

  • stupid captain and co pilots cant speak english properly.

  • people never realize how great a camel is for travelling lol

  • If the airport was at fault it would suspend the landing and taking off of flights if conditions were dangerous. At the end of the day Etihad failed in its duty of care towards its passengers -this seems to have happened numerous times before according to other people online reviews.
