Yes, they're hard to beat for general listening. The tonal quality of the older radios often outshines most of the new ones, for all the DSPs, notch filters, sharp IF bandpass filters and so on. Besides, if you want such things, these old radios have plenty of space for mods, and you can get your hands in there and do it! Likewise repairs.
Good on you for keeping them in such good conditions. Enjoy the improving bands.

love the old yaesu radios the one on the right is a early production model about 1973 given to me in 1976 when i had 11 turns on the coil by a old amateur gentleman who explained the wonders of radio and radio propagation to me and set me on a journey that still has not ended, and who is still sadly missed
