Hey this is Kush again with Ask the Adobe ones and today I have a question from Toasty asking if I could talk a little about the new Adobe e-learning suite. Well sure, but first, let me tell you what its not. No its not something that you secretly book into after prom night.

Ok, so this a good time to talk about e-learning suite since valentines day is approaching. Oh I'm sorry, that's not the reason? ok what is it then, oh yea it just came out recently. Ok, seriously, The Adobe e-learning suite is a great collection of industry standard Adobe tools aimed at people who create rich e-learning experiences. For example for corporate training, web based courses.




So first of all we got all the big guns in it like Adobe Flash Professional CS4, Photoshop CS4 extended, Dreamweaver CS4 and Adobe Acrobat Pro 8. Now that's a pretty impressive lineup but the icing on the cake is the brand new Adobe Captivate 4 that you can use to create screen capture demos and interactive content such as quizzes without having to know any programing skills . This is the first time this new version is out and it has many new features and improvements over the last version of captivate and it's more integrated with other products. Plus there are other goodies like Soundbooth CS4, Adobe Presenter, Device central and Bridge. And I should point out the fact that the versions of Flash and Dreamweaver actually have specialized interactions and Extensions specifically designed for e-learning related projects. Plus it also has a bunch of goodies like the Adobe Media Encoder and a SCORM packager.




As you can see this is a pretty long list of products to begin with so there's no way I can describe all of them one by one. You can learn more about the Adobe e-learning suite on this site. This suite is priced similar to the other major CS4 suites meaning it costs much less than what you would pay for those or similar tools individually.




I should also mention that the Adobe Technical Communication Suite 2 came out at the same time and it's designed for authors of technical documentation so it has tools like Adobe Frame Maker 9 and Robohelp 8 and also this suite has Captivate 4 as well among other things. Speaking of blogs, I know this is not related to e-learning but I got to tell you about this shout-out I got from one of my viewers. He sent me this link to a blog entry describing how happy he was to finally get hold of an Obama T-shirt! Yes, I was wondering what the big deal was too but then I realized that he's from Germany! Wow, I didn't know his fan base reached that far out there.

You know when I was in school it was usually the students who booked that other suite except for those rare times when teachers use it themselves but nowadays I hear its the teachers and students making use of it.
