Ron Finley plants vegetable gardens in South Central LA -- in abandoned lots, traffic medians, along the curbs. Why? For fun, for defiance, for beauty and to offer some alternative to fast food in a community where "the drive-thrus are killing more people than the drive-bys."

A brief comparison of two TED talks exemplifies our societal disease. David Blaine giving a talk about holding his breath for a bit longer than most people: Over 2 million views. A man talking about a revolutionary act to re-shape our ravaged inner cities, though? Under 200k.
It's time for an evolution of human consciousness.

The good news is, Ron's talk has over a million views on the TED page that somehow aren't counted here.
As for an evolution of human conscious, it's coming. Slowly. Painfully. So perhaps, "don't hold your breath" ;)

you are correct, i couldn't believe it when my friend told me about this site. Listen, i've been getting paid about $200 a week just for letting brands know what i prefer to buy. its worth a try here: bit.ly\Z3Mko2

TED finally got one right. I am from SoCal and can relate to getting the right food to the right people. Not everyone is going to garden, but can still be a supporter. This guy is going to restore the area one parkway at a time.
