Machine Head and Pantera are related to metal since the instruments played and the style involved is. But I agree that their attitude (at least for Machine Head) is not fitting that word.

@novembrine1 I agree with you but I'll point out that:
yes, Vio-lence were a minor band, indeed but their debut signed the end of the thrash era. That was the last thrash album (one could like it or not, however)
and about the german bands being behind the american ones, well, it could be true in terms of fame but if we speak about worthiness, I believe it's up to ones personal tastes (but I think you speak about "fame")

No mate, I ain't forgetting them. It's just that, with the due adoration I have for the German fab-three, they never got as big as their American peers .
They were a lil step behind. That's all I meant!
Mmm.. dunno man, with all due respect, Vio-lence was a minor band and their album didn't move a leaf.
Machine Head, along with Pantera shouldn't even be mentioned. They're not even metal as far s I'm concrnd.

it's so strange how a band like them, creative, coherent, growing and constant, was not ever able to reach the real success they deserve... this is incredible.

I just love that album. Still one of their best and I´d even compare it to Dimension Hatröss.
Sad thing that Piggy died, what a guitarist!
