The laptop is not in the box you try to get. You win the box and redeem it for a laptop.

The display ones in the background are dummies, like you see in the case at wall-mart, the reason they are turned away form you is because they have no screen, keyboard, excreta.

Location:
NJ boardwalk, at one of the dozens of shops I stopped in. I don't remember which one in particular.

  • "a health hazard legally" stfu pretending like you have a clue wtf you're talking about.

  • @applesauceman I cringe re-reading some of my older descriptions. Thanks for pointing this out. I'll revise it.

  • nice camerawork

  • @civilcalc Nice sarcasm

For the record, The main reason I was recording was so I had evidence if the machine kept my money but didn't credit me a play (again). Maybe 5% of it was on the off chance I won. If I knew I was going to put the video on line, and it would subsequently get nearly 100k of views within a year or two, I would have actually focused while filming.

  • Yes, they're empty boxes in there. However, the weight of the empty box has to be equal to the prize. The claw's ability to pick up the object is determined by the people that bought the crane. They could set the claw power all the way down to 1% if they wanted to. There is no "pick up after 3 trys" programming in cranes. It's all down to the size and weight of the box, and the power level that the crane is set to.

  • @thomsonproductions I THINK the is an abridgment of an orange covered manual. Feel free to not believe me, I have nothing to cite.

There is a programmable "idle" period, where the machine determines the first player has walked away. In more expensive machines, this can be set (models given) but recommended at 15-20 minutes. If it goes idle three times, the third play will have stronger power. (this mode can, obviously, be shut off) This simulates "beginners luck", encouraging people to play.
