Two things about backpacking meals:
1. Stir really well as soon as you get the water in as Tinny is doing. If you don't you'll get a lot of unhydrated (crunchy when you don't want crunchy) bits later. This goes double for meals with rice.
2. After you seal the bag, try wrapping it in a fleece to keep it hot. The food will hydrate more completely - it's never too hot to do anything to the fleece.

Was Tinny using a stripped down JetBoil? I think he shorten the pot and removed the unnecessary black plastic parts and neoprene to conserve weight.

Thank you very much for the review. I appreciate it. I've been looking at buying these and wanted to know. Safe journeys.

I'm gathering Mountain House products for emergency puproses, not hiking or climbing, but I must say that if I was in a Hurricane Katrina situation that I would be more than pleased to eat Moutian House products..they really are good, not perfect, but good and worth the effort.

if you add a little butter it would bring that fatty flavor back to the meal

that's for trying it out for us Tinny! I also liked your videos on your own vacuum packed meals that you pack. keep the good stuff coming and send us more stuff from you on the trail. Thanks!
Hi Tinny. If one were planning macronutrients around a young athlete for instance (say 120-200 grams of protein/day), do you think hamburger gravel added to the mountain house meals would be a cost effective way to bump up the daily protein without resorting to protein powders?
