Good video, Paul. Great ideas to which I would add these thoughts:
1) Size matters with houses, when choosing a home, choose the smallest one that meets your needs. Then choose the best solar orientation for performance.
2) The price of renewable energy is going down quickly, plan to use PV panels and wind generators in a grid tied arrangement. Being net zero energy is not that hard now days.
3) Purchase an electric car like Nissan Leaf or Telsa and charge it with solar power.
