  • I just thought it was poor engraving. But could it be a cheap way of emphasizing the voicing. Not attacking the double stop but attacking the pitch that changes within these sustained intervals. If this is the case, it would change the way the piece has been played for the past 30 years.

  • Are you using the 1980 score or the 1999 score? I have both. I liked the old copy because it was larger, so I wrote in what I thought was all of the updated changes. Use the old copy at home, and the new copy at work. The old copy had fewer accents for the left-handed rolls of m.189-249. The revision added some accents, so I wrote them in, similar to the old copy's full double-stop accents. The revised copy has accent markings above and below the bass staff.

  • You're making me understand this piece so much better :) thanks Dr. Burritt! Can't wait to see it played live. You say you'll be at the Malletech booth at 10am or so Saturday?
