@kubagoalkeeper people weren't directly killing them. the DDT in pesticides was thinning out their egg shells. since eagles spend a long time in their eggs compared to other birds, they weren't surviving as chicks inside their eggs. that's why they almost died out. after DDT was outlawed, they began to come back!
