Horse transport to slaughter

The suffering that goes into transporting horses to slaughter.I must correct something in it though as the video says we only have 1 slaughter house in the US and actually we have three.2 are in Texas and 1 is in Illinois.

I have known about this hidious treatment of horses for a long time...When it came time to put my horse down, I trailered him 35 miles to a farm where a guy put them down with one shot to the head which causes instant death...Many of my friends used this service...The meat is used to feed lyons in surrounding zoos....

I am glad to hear that someone was a responsable owner and did not try to squeeze the last drop of blood out by sending them to slaughter.It was very humane of you.You must have loved this horse very much!I am so sorry for your loss.

you are SO right! i love my pony who was rescued from horse slaughter. he is going to be a champion at all levels. horse murderers should be hung, drawn and quartered because its all that the killers deserve.

Nr. six

I told all my friends and we were all in shock not knowing there was places like this in the world. I don't say that Norway is problem free but it is a fact that we have the lowest crime rate in the world, and that also goes for animal cruelty. I have never seen or heard about it here! There is something sick about the people doing these things, it is something sick about everyone knowing about these and being able to close their eyes and sleep at night. I know I sometimes can't...

Nr. five

My point is that there are some countries like Norway witch almost doesn't have horse slaughter and never like the ones shown here in the videos on You Tube. The most frustrating is that there I nothing I can do about it. The first time I saw some of these videos I started to cry and I spent a whole night going throw all the videos of the slaughter, transport and abuse of American and Canadian horses.

Nr. four

Usually here in Norway the most cases i have seen and i have seen MANY the people ho own a horse loves it very much, and here there is no other reason to keep a horse. They do all they can to save their horse if it is sick. Sometimes it can't be saved and then the vet comes to humanly put it down and the horses are then buried somewhere or picket up as a kind of disposal. We can't all burry our horses in the back yard.

Nr. three

The rest of the slaughter I didn't care to see but i knew the horse was dead before he started cutting in it! The slaughter man was a very nice and kind looking old man. he said: this is the best possible way to do it, the horse thinks he is going to his field like he does every day, the horse is calm and it doesn't even hear the blow before he is already dead.

This was and old horse that had stomach problems.

Follow up nr Two:

Here we don't drive our horses to slaughter; the Slaughter comes in a closed trailer out to the stable. The one I held was one his way to the paddock he had always been standing in and in the last turn some 500meters from the stable stood a man with a tiny gun. We stopped and he stroke the horses chin, sat the gun close to the horses for head and pulled the trigger. The horse was then dead!

I'm really sorry but this is so typical America. I am from Norway and I have my own horse, I have ridden and had horses almost all my life. I have seen horse slaughter here in Norway Once, I even held the Horse and it was the most human thing.
