@nirson123 That's OK. There is a big difference between Starbucks and Costa Coffee or Cafe Nero (you may not have heard these brands). Starbucks sells sustainable tuna sandwiches in the UK. The other coffee shops don't, they have tuna sandwich labels saying "dolphin friendly", code for, "this screws the oceans big time, killing sharks and turtles and anything else but hey, it's usually OK for dolphins, smart enough to get out of the way or be pushed out."

I would distinguish between killing domestic animals that have been raised sustainably (like hillside sheep) and killing wild animals like bluefin tuna that we are now harvesting at a point close to their collapse. Are we so keen to make things extinct as with the great auk, the extinct penguin of the north?

would like to know how u got these figures, from corrupt anti comercial organizations or from the top of your head ? tuna is not even present in tuna fish, rather albacore and other species, ur not gonna tell me that u can purchase a half pound of tuna in a can for .99 Cent !!!!! lol . im a fisherman and i help feed the world , what do u do for humanity other than post anti commercial fishing videos !!!

These figures are from the book advertised. Read it to find out more. Many Spanish fishermen are calling for marine reserves to increase their catch. You can catch fish as long as you leave some over for future generations. At the moment we are destroying fish stocks as never before.

to phoebekatz17, i suppose you are free from any form of conflict toward our sea life. You must not drive a car or defecate in a toilette. Everyday human life is polluting our marine Ecosystems which is more dramatic than fishing. Clean water is the biggest controversy facing our sea life. Look up Salmon Water Now, a vid on you tube. Farmers allocated water for crops subjecting salmon to extinction. NO WATER, NO SPAWNING !

What im doing comm. fishing, has been practiced for many years. Same harvestation annually and the the same species migrate in the same numbers year after year. So many people want to read horrific literature an believe it so badly, not sure why ? Have heard the oceans will be completely empty by 2048 ? We have quota's set by biologists to ensure species can be harvested under the quota with no harmful effects toward populations. Foreign fisheries are to account for overfishing !
