Project Orange Krate Lives! Camaro Performers Magazine

Well, we finally got out 427 small block installed into our 71 Camaro project car and fired up for the first time. It's a bit loud so I think we should install some sort of exhaust system. Next up will be a Gear Vendors overdrive to knock the revs down on the highway and then the car goes to paint and body for a much needed update to its looks.

Hey guys.. yea, a bit loud uncorked.. lol

The project has been on hold while we finish up a few other stories but we will be diving in hard January 4th.

All new suspension, new paint.. and we will be really working the car over. You will be able to follow the build on here in in Camaro Performers Magazine. Best of all when it's done we're going to beat the snot out of it.

That's cool. :) I just put in a T-56 in mine a few months ago and I'm really enjoying that. With the 3.42 gear in my rear and a 27 inch tire I'm shifting into sixth at between 80 and 90mph at around 1600 - 1800 rpm's. I'm going to need to go to a 4.10 or 4.56 gear but the 406 I'm building comes first.

i like mine no problems with it, put it in automatic and it shifts into the final gear at 40, you never have to do anything unless it is in manual. check out my vids of my acceleration

I've heard a lot of people that don't like their Gear Vendors OD units. I'd like to hear what you guys think about them after a few months of riding around with them. I'm debating on swapping out the TH400 in my Camaro for a T-56 or T5 or going to an auto tranny with an OD of some sorts. I have a spare 700r4 sitting outside that I was thinking of going with that needs a heavy rebuild.

Great sounding car though. What's in the rear end?
