I'm a slacker, this is Austin after all and it has been stay in the house hot since the end of April up until recently. This is now the rest of Spring that Summer screwed over last Spring. I'm hoping it lasts through winter but it would sure be nice to get a lot of rain or next year my garden will be forbidden by law and I will be fined, no doubt I WILL BE FINED. Stage three of a drought in Austin means no outdoor watering. I'm supposed to let everything die but I won't . Damn you Rick Perry! (that's a joke, like damn you Obama for making my worms die.)

  • Glad to see you again WFG! You lived in hell there this summer.Glad to see your worms are still showing signs of life.Grab some Pumpkin and throw it in when the ones hit the curb.Them worms will rebound fine.Too hot here to post many videos as well as far as worms were concerned.Good luck with a mild winter though.Remember that driveway scene last winter.Still got chills! Happy Worming! Garden did good too considering.Mine died!

  • It has been a bad year..I'm in Amarillo myself and it's been a nasty one. What I did for my worm bin was every morning I would put about 1 gallon of ice on the very top tray and let it melt and trickle all day. It worked great not only did it give them a cool spot but it kept my bin moist...good to see ya back.

  • Glad to see you again George!! It's because of you that I resurrected a worm bin I hadn't used in about 10 years just a few weeks back. My little worms are doing great so far and I really look forward to your sage advice. AND, I have a question.... my bin came with 3 worm trays and the bottom tray would be where the water/ tea could fall into (but i'm guessing I wouldn't want worms there) Where and how do I collect the castings? Is it in the bins once they work their way through it?
