When a coup removed Honduras' leader President Zelaya - and he was flown out of the country still in his pyjamas - little did they realise he would be back. He returned secretly 3 months ago and is holed up in the Brazilian Embassy.
With violent riots and the country split over the legality of the actions taken by the military and interim government, this week's elections were supposed to provide a way out. Many Zelaya supporters equate his treatment to a military coup; "We wont participate we wont vote for anyone!" shouts his former deputy and union leader. Zelaya is currently seeking refuge in the Brazilian embassy following the news that he could not leave or travel without fear of arrest. The situation has become so polarized that even the church can do little to affect a reconciliation", reveals a church pastor, after the Catholic church criticised Zelaya and recognised the acting provisional government.

  • except he raised min wage which pissed off alot of people in high class, gave x gang members a second chance at life by giving them studies , thrid honduras rate was going down , and forth like i said there is video evidence of how the coup lied about the elections only 48% voted lol real video footage but hey u think u know everything right dumb ass lol

  • In fact, constitutions get changed or amended (through referendums) all over the place, (less often concerning the presidential term limits, but nevertheless). It's a regular democratic mechanism of societies bringing their legislature up to date with their aspirations, needs and realities. European Union just undergone an adaptation of a new European constitution, which was voted upon and assumed new legal power over the pre-existing national constitutions. Don't be a stuck up, learn facts.

  • VIVA ZELAYA, CHAVEZ, CORREA, KIRCHNER, MORALES, Y CASTRO!

I am a Japanese COMMUNIST. I think CAPITALISM is the modern FEUDALISM.

    I hate FEUDALISM.

  • I support Zelaya. The farmers and people of rich social class must redistribute the wealth for the equality of opportunity in this country.

Apoyo Zelaya. Los granjeros y las personas de clase rica deben redistribuir la riqueza para la igualdad de oportunidad en este país.

    Saludar de Japón

    Greeting from Japan

  • I might be the rightful leader of Honduras.

  • Zelaya is just a another dumbfuck.....

  • madmanatsea may be from Bay Islands but he writes like he's from Bay of Grunting Pigs. Hondurans pay no taxes? When they earn, if employed, $2 - $4 a day.

Who profits from Honduras' few natural resources? Who benefits from transportation fees? Are you saying there's NO elite?

And Zelaya was DENIED entry to his country. I remind YOU, dumb-head: this is contrary to 2006 Law of Citizen Participation.

He was more idealist than politician: his overthrow is a new kind of coup d'etat.

  • Zelaya should form a Political party that has a platform of the stuff he thinks the poor need......The problem with Honduras is that the People there don't pay any TAXES to fund the needed stuff for the poor. A President and Congress can't do much without money so they need something like the IRS. I am from Utila, Bay Islands, Honduras, and can tell you that most people there are RICH because they Rent rooms at USA prices in a country where labor is less than $4/day and NO TAXES PAID!

  • @D1lk What wealth being stolen? Do you even know anything about Honduras? Fact: 25% of Honduran GDP is from Hondurans who live in the USA sending money back to their country! Maybe if you have a mental defect, you should go see some kind of shrink.....I am from Honduras so stop the BS here. Zelaya was removed for DISOBEYING a Honduran Supreme Court ORDER! The court then issued an arrest warrant for him; this would happen here in the USA if any President DISOBEYED a Supreme Court ORDER!

  • The people spoke in the past elections, they are not comfortable with all situation, they would prefer to be under the same RICH make themselves richer, and the poor poorer. Zelaya had good intention, but that was it, only intentions. He did not follow what he preach. Now we have to suffer for a while all the negative aspects of it.

Hopefully we would have a president that would really care about the poor. For now, lets continue as we had, for the past 30 years.

  • i see a google ad for calls to honduras for just 14.9 cents a minute---another example of the elites screwing the people.
