Nice swingy version of this old number from the 1920s. They don't write tunes like that or play in that sort of style any more- what a loss for the current generation!!!!!
From an era when there were many jazz clarinetists, Fountain stands out as probably the most interesting. He was only with the Welk orchestra for about two years before going solo and doing oh so well. He bends notes like a singer and his improvisations closely align with the melody. A shy man by nature but not when working his fabulous clarinet. A perfect marriage in '58 for the swinging Welk orchestra. Great stuff. I hope we don't "linger awhile" before we hear more.
Couldn't be better when you are watching the best !!!
