One of the greatest challenges we face is climate change and the threat it poses to the environment. In December last year, after many years delay, the Australia ratified the Kyoto Protocol.

In this extract from his address to the UN, Kevin Rudd discusses how Australia is continuing to be part of the solution to climate change.

  • Way to you go PM Rudd. I salute you. I believe Australia will lead the way in this green tchnology and the structuring change in its economy which is inevitable will bring loads of benefits beyond what we could imagine.

  • a solar power plant the size of the Canberra could power the whole of Australia. and a plant the size of Victoria could power the world. think about it.

  • Great speech Mr Prime Minister. I think that once you have fixed Australia you should go for the top job of the U.N. to clean it up and bring some of your responsible leadership to that fine organisation.

  • Nice work !

  • The government should not be pumping dollars into a specific clean energy solution, and particularly into CCS. CCS is a furphy that will only delay the transition to a true green economy, and in effect is merely a subsidy to the coal industry. The largest current deployed CCS systems store on the order of one million tons of CO2 per year - see the Wikipedia article on CCS. This is a meaningless pinprick against the billions of tons that are produced annually.

  • oh kevin your my heaven!

  • Well done Rudd

  • Here here!

  • Find another alternative besides coal.

Also constant spraying of our skies by aircraft, which is making people sick, is not helping our environment one bit.

    LOOK UP!!!!!
