Merc is chiptuned and recently benchmarked at 371hp. The Golf is stock.

  • Double the engine size and 100 hp more and you're laughing that hes 10 feet behind you? That's kinda sad man...

  • @Aspect2010 Well not just double the engine size, put some 450kg extra weight on too ;). I think the power-to-weight ratio is pretty close between the two cars. And it's NOT me laughing, it's the guy in the backseat as you see, a friend of mine who just wanted to come when we did the race. I'm guessing he got a little kick of the acceleration, and therefor laughed. Good job playing smart.

  • @bkorven So assuming the Merc is a 96', it's weight is around 1725kg against the R's 1545kg. 1725 - 1545 = 180kg...

    That gives a power to weight ratio for the merc of 0.22 while the R has around 0.18 horses per kg... basically about 20% better power to weight to the Merc. ''Pretty close'' in my opinion would be 5%... that's acceptable... but not 1/5th!

    The thing that pissed me off the most wasn't the fact that it was an unbalanced race but the fact that that one idiot was laughing.

  • @Aspect2010 96'? This engine was produced between 2005-2008 only. The weight of the merc is 1910kg, and that's without counting in the weight of the extra passengers. Either way I think every race that can be done should be done, just for the fun of it. I don't care if the car I'm driving is superior or inferior to the oponent car, I'l do it anyways. But I'm a bit sad I didn't have the chance to do longer/better races.. None of those two are very good, but it was all I had.

  • @cumbas why you answear on an old comment months ago??lol dont even know what i wrote. but anyway i think you´re a little wrong. the amount of power which the cars have has nothing to do with the law in the country they are produced. if this was the case, then why lexus and all the american auto brands put supercharged v8´s and v10´s in their cars? hm? :) french just build slow and boring cars and everybody knows that!!

    Maybe it was the case in the past in the 70's for example ^^ but not nowadays !!

    The German CAN put powerfull engines in their cars because the German laws & the not limited speed on the Hightways allowed it...

    The French builders for example dont put powerfull engines in their cars because quite simply the French laws allowed the max speed at 130kmh in the hightways...

    For information the ratio "Weight/Power" play only in a stopped start like a 0-100kmh for example but not on a start launched like here...

    Thus of course it is normal to see the Mercedes win with 100hp more and a bigger torque, especially that even the ratio "weight/power" is not really in the advantage of the Golf R...

  • Bis zum 4ten Gang kannst so Vergleiche, gechipter Monsterdiesel gegen Benziner vergessen. Bei dem Dieselbenz steht der volle Drehmoment doch schon bei 2000U an. Wenn der bei 3000 den nächsten Gang einlegt, hat der wieder direkt volle Kraft. Ein Benziner kommt erst richtig ab 4.500. Der Vergleich bei diesen beiden Fahrzeugtypen kann erst beginnen, im 4. Gang auf der Autobahn und wenn der Golffahrer die Gänge dann voll ausdreht. Dann wird das ganz anders aussehen.
