Paintings by Ted CoConis, Music by Edith Piaf

The most recent paintings of Ted CoConis are lyrical, but psychologically probing, character studies of Women in Paris. The paintings are developed from plein air drawings, usually of women sitting alone in public gardens and cafés, shops and museums.

Ted is particularly fascinated by those intensely private women who create personal havens of restful quiet within dynamic places of lively interaction: women who are sublimely content in their solitude, fulfilled by their own companionship.

Ted CoConis has studied, drawn and painted the figure for over 50 years. He worked almost exclusively as an illustrator for the first half of his career, gaining international recognition for his outstanding movie posters, book
covers and story illustrations.

About 30 years ago he decided to concentrate on his own work while living in Paris and the Greek Islands.
