  • My rosas are mega noisy. They are quiet as during the day but on dawn and in the afternoon they go off for a good half hour.Even when they are going off they ..make sweet noises unlike all the other parrots.I used to work in a large aviary with many different parrots, the bourkes were the nicest by far.A beautiful and underrated bird.

  • @kingofkongisland

I agree. I wonder if there is something about the hybridization that genetically altered the Rosy Bourke's to make them noisier!

  • they're like the opposite twin of budgies lol.. the colours budgies don't have(red, pink) and a cute endearing non gregarious chirp.

  • @LionGoddess1

They are definitely sweet and mild-tempered. For awhile I had 2 budgies and 2 bourkes. The male budgie loved the female bourke, and she tolerated him. Io, the male bourke, had no interest in the female budgie.

I have found an exception to the quiet chirping. I have a young female rosy bourke now who is rather loud and super-energetic. My 15 year old male bourke, io, is not very fond of her so I have to keep them in separate cages although I do let them fly together.

  • Is that as loud as they get?

  • @wizfriz

Hi. This female and my male have very sweet chirps, like you hear on the video. I just acquired a new female who is much louder and wakes me up in the morning, at the crack of dawn.

  • I have two females, one screams and grunts at me, the other one dive bombs me. I have had them for nearly a year and they don't like me trying to touch them. I tend to leave them alone. They live on perches on my ceiling and fly about as they wish. They get on well with my female pigeon who also lives inside with us. They don't mind an English Bull Terrier shoving his big old nose into their feeding cage, but they don't like my hand near them lol They responded to this video

  • @leacox2 Ohhh, my little guy is sweet as can be, but he sure can be noisy! He has discovered he loves to whistle... LOL

  • @eevee5609 That sound is also the begging sound that the chicks use to beg food from their parents. That is probably why she is using that sound with her dad. They rub their nose and beak to clean it.

  • My bird is Pinky and she makes that sound to her dad, gem. do you know why she does that to her dad? And one more question, what does it mean when they rub there nose and beack. (don't know if I spelled it right) -eevee5609
