agreed - bear way to maintain boat trim. An extra gybe will be faster overall. (exception might be if it's a close marginal lay on a mark.)
Perhaps backing off a tad to make the mark is safer than 100% + squall + capsize. But you defo make frightenening leeway while heeled.like that.
Conditions dictate.

guys just bear away, trap flatter or de-power way more. 29ers should have no more than 10 degrees heel downwind/reaching
