@boybreda The 1.0l engine is quite noisy, it's not available in the US, but in Japan and Europe. I've driven one before and they get noisy on the highway, but it's still fun to drive in the city. I love the Camry btw :)

@Genius83 This is not about speed its about driving a Solid car that i feel safe driving in. I may live in Scotland but I am German we Germans like our solidity. All I am saying is MY personal choice is not to have a 1.0 litre toyota or a Diesel. If the rest of the world are happy to drive these types of cars so be it, I am voicing my opinion .
I make no apologies for having an opinion.

@Azureecosse "Cant see the point in them if you have an accident in these little cars you gonna get hurt...." Your sounding more like an American than a fellow Scotsman mate :-P And the Euro NCAP ratings for most small cars would also disagree. I can still remember back in 2003 when the Ford Fiesta of the time beat the considerably larger Land Rover Freelander in a crash test. And obviously your SAAB, regardless of model, will beat a 1.0 Yaris off the line - thats hardly a good comparison.
-
@Azureecosse What Civic did you get? I once had a 07 plate 2.2 diesel Civic as a hired car for 3 months (work use) and, while I'm also not a big diesel fan, I thought it was excellent. Much quieter than your average diesel, smooth and quick. The rev limiter had to come on every time I took it all the way to the red (first diesel engine I have ever seen go above 4500rpm). Handling wise, ok it was no Ford Focus, BUT it was a damn site better than the alternative - a hateful Peugeot 307 or 308.
-
@Azureecosse @Azureecosse Swap the ST for a Yaris...no way :-). However, the simple fact is, like or loath talking about mpg figures, its sadly becoming a major factor what with rising fuel prises and, thanks to the banks creating this recession, no pay rises to compensate. "But i bet you like to rev the arse out of your partners little Toy when you drive it at night" - as I'm not a complete prat, that would be a No. Mind you, if I did, it'd still do 50+ mpg I assure you!

@04smallmj Oh hell how boring, I dont care how Quiet Diseasals are i would never buy one, they are a compromise and they are as heavy as hell, believe me i had the use of a Civic Diseasal as a courtesy car it handled like a pig on roller skates and it wasnts very fast and all the torque and power disapeared at 4000 rpm , petrol cars are far more flexible.
Toyota cars noisy????
The Camry is quietest in it's class, have you ever driven a Avensis?
I have a Yaris 1.4 D-4D, i have driven in a lot of other cars wich among higher class but this Yaris is very quiet if you compare to them.
Do remember that Lexus the luxury brand of Toyota has the most silent cars of the whole world. This techniques are used in a lot of Toyota's!

I drove one of these things on holidays and used to drive the old one. I love the engine sound in both cars. The newer one sounds great with the shoe down at 5000+ revs. And krotch is wrong, they're quiet if you want them to be. Toyota make the best 1.0l engines.
