  • @CSSailor1863 That may be but during the pig flu it was not allowed to receive the communion in Blood directly in the mouth, sharing the cup.

  • "The Empty Cross represents the very essence of the protestant faith. It resembles the Church but it lacks the essential, the Body and Blood of Christ."

  • @karpov89 The Body and Blood of Christ cannot carry sickness. It is not possible for that which cleanses all it touches to be tainted. On the other hand many Lutheran Traditions have rejected Apostolic Succession and Real Presence all together. If it isn't really the Body and Blood of Christ then it is just Bread and Wine (or in many cases Juice) and yes, you can get sick from it because it is not real.

  • @karpov89 They think it will prevent the spread of sickness. The Catholic Church has declared it Heresy to teach that one can become sick from the Body and Blood of Christ for by it's very nature it cleanses and sanctifies.

  • @Organist6792 In Sweden also priests may use the cape and do so sometimes, bishops always use them at festive occasions when not the celebrant of the mass. Well it is not the tradition of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church to take communion from small cups so I can't understand why it is has become a custom, can't see a good reason for it. It does seem to be less dignified to do so, considering you are drinking the blood of Jesus Christ.

  • @karpov89 In America, Most Lutheran pastors wear a white linen alb and a stole colored for the appropriate liturgical season. Capes are only worn by Bishops and other high ranking clergy. The congregation has a choice as to take communion from the chalice or individual small cups. There is nothing wrong with taking communion from a small cup.

  • @Organist6792 And no cape either?! Is there any special reason as it is a breach with the Lutheran tradition since the 16th century? Maybe the Lutheran immigrants did not have money to make the liturgical vestments?! Well there can be no big risk of serious sickness because of the wine, but during certain periods (pig flu) intinction may be prescribed.

  • @karpov89 Lutheran Pastors don't have to wear chasubles depending on which synod they are in and also most churches are switching to small cups to avoid the spread of sickness but most places offer a choice between a chalice or small cup.

  • Seems like the communion is distributed in small cups; that is not the correct way to do it, it has to be a chalice...and why no chasuble?

  • Oh, Now I understand please disregard the comment left by me on the other video.

The one to the left of the Altar is a Deacon or Lay Minister right?
