Zdzisław Beksiński (24 February, 1929 - 21 February, 2005) was a renowned Polish painter, photographer, and sculptor who is best known as a fantasy artist. Beksiński executed his paintings and drawings either in what he called a 'Baroque' or a 'Gothic' manner. The first style is dominated by representation, with the best-known examples coming from his 'fantastic realism' period when he painted disturbing images of a surrealistic, post-apocalyptic environment. The second style is more abstract, being dominated by form, and is typified by Beksiński's later paintings. Beksiński was murdered in 2005.
Music by Brian Eno, 'Unfamiliar Wind (Leeks Hills)'

  • Phenomenal!

  • Very good choice of music.

This song is perhaps my favourite on Ambient 4

    It works

  • @noeyedeer2jk89sx

Not to undermine his brilliance but,

It sounds like he was trying to sound "ironic" or mysterious when he didn't have to.

He was a man who lived through Germany's handywork on Poland during ww2 + the aftermath.

They may have been works of optimism, but it doesn't show at all in these paintings.

  • Nightmares?

Beksinski said that his paintings were misunderstood and actually quite often optimistic.

  • Immense talent artistique !

  • depressive, dark macabre.... 5*

  • Inquiétant et magnifique : bravo !
