Is this why my room is so messy? I keep my clothes in a massive pile and other stuff everywhere :D I keep games and books tidy though. I can tie shoe laces but I'm rather slow. I sometimes like having AS cos I feel different and special from everyone else. But sometimes it can be really annoying :( I'm 16 and I was diagnosed when I was 7 :D

I just watched this with my mom who had come to my apartment to make sure that I was still alive and to see if I had finally cleaned my apartment (of course I didn't). We could not stop laughing because these were the exact words we use whenever she comes over. As a fellow Aspie I am glad that I'm not the only one with a psycho mother. Of course, mine tends to bug me because she does so much research into understanding autism.

*sighs* Scary. So very scary. My mothers even worse though.

"Look at you: you didn't shave this morning, your hair is uncombed, and you're still wearing that worn out old jacket" I get comments like that from my mom ALL THE TIME. It's just so annoying!
great video but for ffs you can't tie your own shoelaces and that's apparently a mental disorder? try harder dude. warm up your hands. practice. practice requries some pain. it was all difficult for us to learn how to tie shoe laces at first and honestly velcro is probably more practical and quicker but don't say this AS label is what's stopping you tie your shoe laces.

@TheStfu1000 Actually, I tied my shoelaces for many years, and only stopped because of arthritis, I do have great trouble with the coordination involved in tying other things, though, like the top of a garbage bag or a twist for a ponytail.
And it's not a "mental disorder." Putting that label on any kind of autism is wrong on more levels than I can even enumerate. The most significant in this context is that the difficulty for tying things is neurological, not psychological.

@bobgreenwade i thought you said you couldnt tie yoru shoe laces because you had aspergers. aspergers is referred to as a mental disorder not that i agree with that term nor mental illness e.t.c.

@TheStfu1000 It's the character in the skit (I still haven't given him a name!) whose dexterity is too shot to tie shoelaces. And yes, autism can cause all sorts of body control problems -- in extreme cases, including speech.

@bobgreenwade teh description makes it seem as if it's a personal experience you had.

@TheStfu1000 It's based on a long series of actual events over many years. The shoelaces comment is the only one that actually comes from someone other than my adoptive mother. Otherwise it's basically a toned-down version of about a third of her visits to my home.
