The Right Honourable John Napier Turner, 17th Prime Minister of Canada speaks about water quality problems and solutions on Lake of the Woods. Water quality of Lake of the Woods is threatened by extensive blooms of blue green algae caused by phosphorus pollution. Mr. Turner speaks of the roles for youth, non governmental organizations and the public in preserving the lake along with the International Joint Commission and the Boundary waters Treaty. Lake of the Woods is the sixth largest binational Great Lake in North America. It spans the boundaries of Ontario, Manitoba and Minnesota, covering an area of 3846 square kilometers.
