Open ocean aquaculture (we call it free range fish farming) is a direct attempt to address impacts of aquaculture. You miss the point - there is no downplay at all of environmental impact. Cultivating seafood far offshore in low-density containment systems beneath the ocean's surface...enables a sustainable supply of nutritious protein without being impacted by surrounding potentially harmful environments nor negatively affecting those (or any other) environments.
That just isn't practical. Everyone is concerned about environmental impacts of fish farming. The fact is that fish farming is by far, the most efficient and sustainable form of protein production. It is far more sustainable than land based agriculture. And, there simply isn't enough arable land on the planet to feed everyone with vegetables. We must responsibly farm the oceans as we do the land. We are at the forefront of this.
This is wrong, fish farms can cause problems too. What about the waste that the fish produce in mass? What will that do to the surrounding area? And also it might make other predators to migrate to there, upsetting the whole marine system in the sea.
