  • Aw... I wanted to hear more about Project Pluto.

  • Sorry! My camcorder ran out of juice. Are you a sf fan too?

  • I'm more of a science non-fiction fan. I recently read a piece by Stross on Boing Boing titled "Futility of space colonization." It was the first time I'd heard of him, and idly came to YouTube looking for more material.

  • Well thanks for the hit! There are a few more vids taken that same day if you go my channel and look through my videos

  • Thanks for this! I loved Saturn's Children and Halting State. I'm a lapsed SF junkie who's trying to get back on the wagon, and Charlie's really wowed me.

  • Certainly, Charlie came across being sincere in his beliefs and the way they affect his writing!

Not all SF conventions are Trekie,(costumes & uniforms), or full of mad fanatics. They are, however, a good chance to see your favorite SF authors and maybe have a chat with them between events.

  • Never been to one - I always thought they were like Star Trek. LOL I've wondered about the personal views of the writers, do they believe the stuff they write? I like serious, intelligent fiction - Kage Baker, Reynolds, Stross, Morgan, NcDevitt, McCartey, etc. Singularity, First Contact, Unique ideas.

Stross is constantly trying to choose between character development and plot - like so many other authors.

  • Thanks for the comments. All the talks that day were very entertaining. Are you also a Science fiction Convention goer?

  • GREAT video - loved Accelerando and The Glass House (I've read 'em all). Loved the comments on the messiness of market economics (and why they work).
