A true work of inspired genius...and funny as hell...which reveals to everyone that the most important aspect of life is to know your place in the enormous scheme of things...enjoy and ponder its simple truths outright hilarity.

"Deteriorata" was performed by The National Lampoon
on "National Lampoon Radio Dinner," a 1972 recording by
Blue Thumb Records.

Lyrics by Tony Hendra

Narrated by Norman Rose (a black & white photo of him
appears near the end of the vid)

Music written by Christopher Guest

i do not own any part of this production except for a few brief animations and compilation pics....i present this only as a way to promote this magnificent song (poem), and do so with no intentions of monetary gain.

Indulge and enjoy!

  • Thanx Wreznor. It's always great to meet a fellow Norman Rose fan. 'Course I sorta HAVE to be since I'm his son. I remember when he did that recording. That's Melissa Manchester singing in the background. I still have the Radio Dinner LP. Great job on the montage. Thanx for including his pic. Cheers - J.R.

  • @CornerMan7 DUDE! what an honor! I remember his voice from a really freaky levis blue jeans cartoon/ad...and woody allen's movie about the blacklist. thank you for noticing and cheers to you and your dad.

  • I went to Korea when the U.S.S. Pueblo was seized by the North Koreans, I guess wreznor is too young to "remember the Pueblo"

  • @AZAFVET heh...i guess i did forget the pueblo...i thought it was a pun on 'remember the alamo'...i feel kinda silly now.

  • @wreznor Dude...the Levis jeans guy wasn't Norman Rose...it was Ken Nordeen...

  • Beat on the sausage, beat on the sausage, beat on the sausage with a baseball bat, oh yeah...oh yeah... yeah yeah yeah yeah.

  • My favorite part of Radio Dinner.

  • @Unindio - The pic of my Dad is the very last black and white photo at the end. That was his last head shot, and the photo was taken by my sister.

  • @CornerMan7 Cool! Which pic is the one of your Dad? I would really like to see the face that goes with that magnificent voice! Thank you in advance!

  • @wreznor LOL! No need to feel silly. I also took the referral to the Pueblo as a pun on "Remember the Alamo." Great stuff, I LMAO, I had to watch this 4 consecutive times to get all that laughter out of my system! Thank you for posting this!

  • A Fluke disliked this.

  • Outstanding--thanks for posting----a classic from the '70's!

  • @wreznor That's a remarkably demonstrative sign of intelligence, imho. Very cool.

  • BTW - of the numerous montages accompanying "Detiorata" on YT, yours is head and shoulders above the rest - Even with that "Pueblo" business ;-)
