Is Jesus Christ a man, or is he God?

Did He ever claim to be God?

What does the Bible say about the identity of Jesus Christ?

Is the Trinity Biblical?

Representing the Unitarian perspective was Sir Anthony Farquhar Buzzard: Sir Buzzard is a Unitarian Christian, He was born in Surrey, England and educated at Oxford University and Bethany Theological Seminary.

He holds master's degrees in theology and modern languages. Retiring after 24 years on the staff of Atlanta Bible College, Anthony continues to write, teach and travel, fulfilling a life-long desire to make the best of Bible scholarship available to the wider churchgoing public.

He runs the website www.Restorationfellowship.org

Books by Sir Buzzard:

1- The Doctrine of the Trinity: Christianity's Self-Inflicted Wound (1998)

2- Jesus Was Not a Trinitarian (2007)

3- Our Fathers Who Aren't in Heaven: The Forgotten Christianity of Jesus, the Jew (1995)

Representing the Trinitarian side was Drew Ayers

  • @msm1876 cont. Look at the scribe's answer about the Shema. "You are correct that God is 'one'...."

THe Greek is Heis. Yes, it does mean ONE. It also means ONLY. Mark 2:6-" Who forgives sins but GOd alone?"

The scribe is saying that YHWH, not Molech, not, Beelzebub, not Baal, alone is to be served, worshipped.

  • 12:00 Regarding Mark 12:29-31...

LOOK AT THE CONTEXT. The scribe quoted the shema. What is the Context of the Shema? That YHWH ALONE should be worshipped and served, not the false gods surrounding Israel. It's not a treatise on Unitarian monotheism.

The rabbis who wrote the Targums believed that there were 2 persons identified as YHWH in Gen 18; do you think they prayed the Shema? cont

  • 8:50 THey killed eachother. Yes, Trinitarians persecuted Arians. But guess what? When Arianism fell into favor, Arians persecuted the DAYLIGHTS out of Trinitarians. Oh, and "Unitarians?" They were non existent. The only "Christians" who denied that Christ pre-existed until the 1500s were the Ebionites, who denied CHrist was virgin born, and that Paul was an apostle.

    This guy's a treat.

  • 8:35: Long, tortured process of believing the Trinity? Christ's uncreated deity was believed by Ignatius of Antioch and the Churches he wrote to in 106! This guy's a jerk; he obviously knows his stuff and is utterly misrepresenting the facts to make his case.

  • 8:12: LIE. Arians, Semi Arians, and Trinitarians ALL agreed that the Holy Spirit was a person; Arians and Semi Arians simply beleived he was a creature. There MAY have been a FEW semi Arians who believed He was a force, but buy and large the Pneumatomachi believed that he very much was a person.

  • Sir Buzzard is a gift of God to religious people, but you know what religous people do with God's gifts....

  • @MuslimByChoice

I am definitely anticipating that debate. Oh by the way did you hear that debate they had on the radio? It was a Christian radio, not too sure what it was called.

Also I was trying to be fair :) Often people think James is just like your typical David Wood or Sam Shamoun

  • @MrGrandDragon There will be a debate between James White and Anthony Buzzard on August you can check Dr White's website for more info, oh yeah if James has knowledge of Greek, Sir Buzzard has knolwedge of Greek and Hebrew :)

  • @Tchado1000

James white is a strong proponent, he isn't like your typical debtor, the guy is a genuine scholar. At first even I thought he was just like the rest of debaters who are not that knowledgeable, but at least for James, he does have at least Greek knowledge and a few qualifications :)

I think they already had a debate (somewhat) over the radio... on March. You have to also realize that Sir Buzzard is also a very easy going person.

  • @MrGrandDragon

Yes . his evidence is very strong but at the same time very clear and simple , I'd love to see James White get crushed by him soon
