Trade campaigners from around the world enter the WTO ministerial conference to perform a sketch to protest against the WTO. Pascal Lamy (Director General WtTO) is Scrooge and is visted by the ghost of WTO past and WTO present - both haunt him as the WTO rules have led to job losses, destruction of livelihoods and hurt emerging industries in developing countries. When he asks "where is WTO future?" the reply is that there is no future for the WTO.
Lyrics (to the tune of These boots are made for walking):
Youve been saying you can give the answers
Since Seattle you know its a mess
Dohas dead and Cancun stopped the show yeah
So whats right is right but you aint been right yet
This movements made for walking
And thats just what itd do
Dont scrooge up our future
Or well walk all over you
Lyrics (to the tune of O Christmas tree):
Hallo Lamy, hallo Lamy
The past has come to greet you
Seattle, Doha and Cancun
They show your past just leads to ruin
Hallo Lamy, hallo Lamy
The past has come to greet you
Hallo Lamy, hallo Lamy
The present is no better
WTO must turn around
Its knees are nearly on the ground
Hallo Lamy, hallo Lamy
The present is no better
What about WTO future?
There is no future for the WTO!
