The two old guys who played checkers outside the courthouse and who argue how the trial is going to go remind me of the two cranky old guys who sat in the balcony on the show "Sesame Street."

I have an innovative idea for criminal justice: Outlaw the private practice of Criminal Defense. If everyone had to rely on public defenders, there would be justice for nobody. (sarcasm intended)

Today, if someone does something against another person which later causes their death, they may be tried in the jurisdiction where the event occurred. I don't know whether this precedent was established after 1948, or whether they left it out of the movie for dramatic purposes.
