Thanks so much for preserving this. Yeah, I wrote the copy for this, and (cough) recycled WOIO.

The graphics and script are identical to the WOIO-TV "WOIO nineteen" sign-on of the same era. It's linked here under "Related"...
WOIO was a brand new independent then, which hooked up with FOX shortly after it started. It's today's CBS affiliate for the Cleveland market, after FOX bought (and just sold) WJW/8...

WTGI-61 had high hopes. The had the reruns of Dynasty. They were to broadcast Big 5 Basketball out of the Palestra in Philadelphia but canceled right before the season started. The voice of the Phillies Dan Baker was to be hired as the sportscaster. The station was forced into bankruptcy almost before it went on the air.

WTGI-61 had a signal that covered as far as any Philadelphia UHF station. The downfall of the station from the beginning was the channel not being on the local cable operations. The law at that time did not require local stations to be on cable TV. The Wilmington cable operation at the time (Rollins) considered WTGI-61 competition because they were broadcasting a local news show

Frank Baker does the audio on this one. His video production company with wife Sharon was in the same building as WTGI-TV on "A" street in Wilmington, DE

I follow you now...the way it was written, it looked like the opposite.

No, I'm talking about the sign-on/-off similarity to the one above (WDCA/20 made it brief using just the station's ownership).

WDCA has been on the air since 1966 and without any interference from running a Pay TV Service.

Did one for WDCA/20 when it debuted September 1986 (known as "DC20"). Then it was replaced by an "Aim High America" Air Force SSB video clip in the early '90s (known as "Paramount 20").

It sure is. Television By Design did the graphics.

If this was from a VHS SP-speed tape . . .sure looks quite good for one. B.T.W., those SMPTE bars, at the time of this sign-on, were designated ECR 1-1978 (later reclassified as EG 1-1990).

It was from a VHS SP tape. There is a bit of a herring-bone effect because of the distance.
