Buster Douglas won this fight for one simple reason: he wasn't afraid of Mike Tyson. Everyone else was already beat before they got in the ring. When Douglas knocked him out, like any true bully, he couldn't handle it. Before the Douglas fight, 37-0. Including the Buster Douglas fight, he lost eight of his last 21 matches. It's all because Douglas took away the mystique.

luck win my ass...he knuckled up with tyson like man and spanked dat ass...Buster was a good fighter but was inconsistent and had good wins against others of the golden grail era. yeah tyson made some excuses about training and luck...that was not luck..he stood in his face and chest and beat his ass pushing tyson back giving him no momentum at all and stayed on top of him. many fighters tried to keep him outside and run around while he stalk you but the key to beating him was stay in his chest.

That, and Douglas was a much better fighter than people gave him credit for. As a heavyweight, in his prime, Douglas had fast hands, good power, and could take a good punch. In hindsight, this wasn't that huge of an upset, especially given all of the circumstances going into the fight.

I think that in history there was a boxer like Mike Tyson .. For anyone wondering what "Prime Tyson" means, this was it.

Tyson was a flat track bully. First time someone actually stood up to him, it was game over. And I mean for good. He was never the same again.

Got to feel sorry for him for what happened to him later, but bottom line, he just didn't have the mental attributes of a champion.
