The part 3 VOR Navigation tutorial will show you how to fly a radial from the VOR. This tutorial is based on my IFR pilot training, so it is a little more accurate than standard VFR training.

  • hello fsx404, thx for the tutorials, theyre really awesome!! i just wanted to ask a quick question regarding vors. once you arrive to a vor and then you want to fly towards another vor how do you know how much to turn in order to allign again with the first vor? in this video i think its 30 degrees. thk u! ive learned so much.

  • @frankiemembreno

I meant to say you start form one and fly to the other,

first you are going to fly FROM (Tutorial Part III) the first VOR, half way thru you switch the frequencies and now you are flying TO the second VOR (Tutorial Part II).

  • @frankiemembreno as my instructor told me, when flying TO the VOR always use 90 degrees, flying FROM 30 degrees is fine

  • Many thanks. Your presentation style is perfect

  • @Bricr96 there's a triangle at the bottom of the needle, it tells you if you're heading TO or FROM the vor

  • Thank you brother.

  • @frankiemembreno

Anytime we intercept headings or radials from the VOR we do it at around 30 deg, because we have overflown the VOR, we have to go back and intercept the radial, look at the diagram at the end of the video it might make more sense.

Good luck and make sure you film some of your flights and share them with us. Send me the information about your flight school in a private message, I want to check out the prices, I want to plan a trip there to do that approach for real myself.

  • @FSX404 thx fsx404 my next question is, when we intercept radials, we overfly the vor then we make a left turn to intercept the vor to fly in a 068 heading , but you turn 30 degrees more. how do you know how much more to turn to allign the plane in the 068 heading, or any heading you wish to intercept?

thx, and by the way, im soon gonna start flight school in toncontin airport! :)

  • @frankiemembreno

Flying VOR to VOR you would have to find out what heading you need to take from one to get to the other during your flight planning, then you fly about half way FROM the first VOR to the second, half way thru you switch the frequencies and now you are flying TO the second VOR
