@okeomslax26 i agree that some people do cut themselves for attention, but you shouldn't stereotype everyone who cuts themselves. for some, it's the best way they know how to cope with trauma. and once one has started, it can be just as addictive as alcohol, drugs, tobacco, or anything else for that matter. depression is a serious illness, and should not be taken lightly.

Umm..."emo" isn't short for "emotional". It came from the hardcore punk scene (mainly in D.C.) in the '80s, and it was short for "emotive (or emotional) hardcore punk". There is nothing hardcore about Bright Eyes. Love the band, but they're not "emo" anymore than Bod Dylan is "emo". By your definition, ALL music is "emo". Learn your history.
