United Nations, New York, 16 June 2009 - United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon says that as more and more people around the world begin to share their experiences and thoughts through new media technologies like the Internet, the need to protect young citizens in the "virtual world" is growing.

Mr Ban says it's time for leaders and agencies around the world to band together to stop "hate speech" and bullying on the Internet.

Mr Ban joined keynote speaker, Mr Hemanshu Nigam, Chief Security Officer for News Corporation and MySpace for the United Nations Department of Public Information's 2009 Unlearning Intolerance Seminar - Cyber Hate: Danger in Cyber Space.

  • Not to mention that they're peddling their warped ideologies....not the people of the world. Arrogance.

    Yuck!

  • So they start to control us. How can people stop this? They try to fear people. Producing fear is the weapon of the movement of the new world order guys.

  • there are those who use information technology for bypassing government propaganda and spreading the truth. and there are those that don't like that.

  • Ki-Moon = Behind the Moon?

There's no doubt about, HOW clear this propaganda was.

They fear loosing the next generation totally into the net.

They fear people in the internet come to other conclusions, together.

They fear to lost control over the youngest children due the net influance.

Therefore they "official" claim to "protect" them, in bold letters.

You can see it. You can hear it.

THEY FEAR, cuz they aware they lie, when they speak out those written proclamations

  • SG ban-ki-moon is awesome. he's an amazing leader :)

  • I also think that Mr. Nigam raises an important point in that we need to use our experiences in developing tolerance among our societies and apply the lessons we've learned to the online medium.

  • They can't do ANYTHING about Israel bombing their compounds and slaughtering their people, but now they want to keep people from saying hateful things on the internet? Good luck, Mr Moon.

  • I posted an ad on craigslist to sell a motorcycle. I got some idiot who wanted to scam me - not even hate speech and I simply told them to butt out or I'd forward their contact to the FBI. You can protect yourself by simply understanding that if it sounds wrong, it probably is. Physical bullying in schools, on streets still occurs and that really needs attention.
