@JahJahayah Perhaps you should get your head out of the sand and realize we (humans) can't produce enough CO2 to equal the equivalent of a beerfart in a hurricane. "Climate change" is caused by the solar wind, the sun and cosmic radiation heating the oceans.

Because half the shit is surrounded by frozen nitrogen pockets underground that will explode if exposed to heat or hot air. Heat is created by friction of drills having to drill through rock at high speeds. It's unavoidable. It's believed that's what may have triggered that 2010 oil spill in the Gulf at that BP drilling station. Then you have shitstorms like that happen when the nitrogen explodes, releasing a shitload of oil.

@nockuout1 - Having oil reserves does not mean the oil is good quality or accessible. A lot of various oil reserves in the ground are piss-poor quality petroleum (which is why people haven't been drilling them already) and much of it is so deep underground that trying to get to it would be economically unfeasible. Some of it is so deep it would take 2 oil barrels of energy to drill out every 1 barrel of oil. That's not economically or energetically efficient.

The U.S has more oil reserves than any other place in the entire world ( google it if you don't believe me) it's just that the moronic liberals and EPA wont let ANYONE explore or drill for it, that is the sole reason we import oil into this country because of EPA restrictions. the only place that we CAN drill is in the Gulf and some of Texas but that was shut down also, after the oil spill by your messiah obama.. anywway he is right you do have a lot to learn, dope.

They were talking about the US. The US HAS imported the vast majority of its oil since the 1973 Oil Crisis. If the US stopped importing oil today we wouldn't have enough domestic oil production to meet American demand.

@bjusticeforever - If you don't know how science works then go look up some scientific resources and find out instead of making up anti-scientific conspiracy theories? Scientists measure it several ways, including ice core samples (which are basically fossilized air).

@A86 I'd love to know the 'scientific' method used to determine how they measured CO2 levels 300 years ago, let alone the last "tens-of-thousandss of years" as you put it. I'm certain that their methods are flawless, considering that the "experts" told us in the 1970's we'd be completely out of oil in 20 years.
