"It would not be possible in this short amount of time to actually rebut the President's message, nor would it be useful. Let me simply say that we in the Democratic Party hope that this administration is serious about improving education and healthcare for all Americans, and addressing such domestic priorities as restoring the vitality of New Orleans." • Jim Webb exemplifies what's best in American politics. I'm a Republican myself, and I only wish that the GOP could come up with candidates who are combat veterans like Jim who have the intellect, integrity, and leadership capability to offer this nation public servants who have earned our respect. I especially like the way he highlighted TR and Ike as the type of Republican chief executive that the current office holder would do well to emulate.

  • Bobby Jindal isn't even fit to kiss Jim Webb's ass.

  • @GlowingSkull27 That's your best comeback, little girl? Go play with your dollies.

  • Who else better to speak on foreign affairs, then someone who knows through hand to hand combat .

  • Wikipedia says at 62 he won't run again in 2012. If more representatives talked like he does there would be more votes to divide amongst all parties. He has the most subtle way of calling Bush a prevaricator i have EVER heard.

  • Yup and hes my cuzin, lol

  • We lost Grayson but at least we still have Jim Webb. God I hope he gets re-elected next year.

I hate how these pro-wall street "blue dog" and "DLC" democrats are ruining left-wing trust in the democratic party. Webb is one of the few good democrats left.

  • How about we take some money out of your paycheck senator instead of trying to take it out of military personnel and cutting military numbers!

  • @BenAliGtor STFU

  • As a Virginia Democrat I remember the concearn I had when Jim Webb, Ronald Reagan's Sec. of the Navy and Under Secretary of Defense, was running as a Democrat. Look many people, I worried if he was from the right and not the left. I now know that he is about the right over the wrong. What a concept, right over wrong instead of left over right. I look forward to supporting him in his re-election bid and attacking the smears from certain groups.

  • @BenAliGtor Ya, my spelling and grammar wasn't the best when i wrote this. Meant to say his son completed tours of Iraq at the time of writing and yes the spelling is " elitist ". Should have said also that he was awarded or he has a silver star. I must have been annoyed at the time of writing. It's a pity the Republican party cannot find presidential candidates of his calibre. He sounds like a man with great integrity. The guy is a natural born leader as well.

  • @boscoesarmy Actually- he's all Marine, and a USNA grad. No offense, Army. But you're right in that he's anything BUT an "elitist". Although, in addition to serving as Sec. of the Navy (under Reagan), he is also a published author of several books, and a film producer- accomplishments that'd make any "elitist" envious.
