These 2 players understood the concept of team play better than anyone else. There were and have been players that were better in a one on one situation but nobody was better at seeing the floor and working 5 on 5.

Bryant Gumbel's correct in that it was Bird & Magic who saved the NBA in the 1980's. And it was Michael Jordan in the 90's who elevated the NBA to a new high.

These two and their teams and the story will never be matched! So many little contrasts and battles yet they were terrific players, people, and friends. Just awesome! HBO show comes on the 6th!
