Well GnosticAtheist what isn't working is the run away spending and taxes that are forcing American's to work longer and harder. I'm talking about people who live off the government and collect welfare, food stamps, subsidized housing, medicaid. The Democrats provides lots of freebees to certain groups in order to get elected and stay elected. The newest group they want to coddle are Illegal Aliens. Social Welfare as you call it has run amok in this country. The Democrats get elected by ceratin groups because they promise to provide subsidies for these groups. For eample, welfare, subsidized housing, food stamps, medicaid. People that get up and go to work every day and try to make a better life for themselves and their families are tired of working harder and longer so they can have their taxes raised to support strangers.
