The Beckett Collection - part of our Research Showcase series.
The Beckett Collection comprises over 500 manuscripts by Beckett and is derived from an exhibition that was put on here at the University in 1971 by Professor James Knowlson. This exhibition grew into what is now the largest archive of Beckett materials in the world. Samuel Beckett, an Irish writer, born 1906, died 1989, was very prolific over the course of his writing career and was very generous in giving a lot of his manuscripts and other material to the collection here.
