Misty Blue-Mary J. Blige and Dorothy Moore Cover by Debbie Vicari
First my info :) OK, So I LOVE this song. This is the kind of music I grew up with. Here is a little Deb Vicari trivia that I hope will not bother anyone. I actually didn't even start listening to country music until I was 17 years old. I think my first country genre cassette tape was an Alabama cassette tape. Before that it was all pretty much old school R&B and stuff my dad did with his bands as well as the typical 80s rock and pop stuff. I listened to KMEL in the bay area. It wasn't until I moved to Tucson that I listened to only a country radio station and that was mostly because there really wasn't a great station other than country really. I also listened to a classic rock station. So 13 years there I really really got ino only country and that was where I began my writing as a career writer. It was also where my sister's murder took place and where the aftermath occured and well, these are rather country themes are they not? Also country has become what rock was in the 60s and 70s branching out into many different areas. Rascall Flatts is R&B country if there ever was R&B country. it appeals to many more people and it brings others back to the good ole country as well. Not all, but a good many. So this song is what I really grew up on. What really got me singing when I was a kid. Nobody could bring singing to the table like Dorothy Moore and others like her. These were the folks I always emulated. I LOVED the way they put every ounce of feeling into the words they sang! These are the folks I wanted to sing like :) Then country became part of my soul and I thought it was incredible and I needed to bring it together. Well, Dolly already brings soul into country. Others do too. But this was my personal route :) So that's my story and I'm stickin' to it ;) Hope you enjoy this song as much as I do. :) NOW song info from wikipedia: "Misty Blue" is a song written by Bobby Montgomery that has become a pop standard. Originally written as a country song for Eddy Arnold, the song grew in popularity after it was covered by jazz vocalist Ella Fitzgerald in 1967. In 1976, the song became a hit for R&B vocalist Dorothy Moore, reaching #2 on the Billboard R&B chart and #3 on the Pop chart. It has since been covered by numerous pop, R&B, and easy listening artists. Monica covered the song as part of her 1998 album,The Boy Is Mine. It was also included on Mary J. Blige's live album "The Tour", the same year with a live duet. with Monica. Even more recently, singer Miki Howard covered the song on her 2006 covers' album, "Pillow Talk". In 2007 Prince included a live version on "Indigo Nights", a CD included with the photo book "21 Nights". Thanks for watching!
